Default Gas or electric?

I have to replace my 394cc B&S Vanguard. 18mph was the fastest it would go. I need more speed. This is a street legal cart and would like to be able to get up to 35mph. I see all these electric carts around town getting it. Any YouTube videos I see are people going from electric to gas. But all the new carts have electric. I've seen these ion batteries are supposed to be pretty good and last for like 15 years. Is that the way to go now?

To do a conversion to electric you will need a different rear axle, set up for a motor, controller and related parts, build a battery tray for whatever style of juice box you choose. Also charger for said batteries. Do you have the necessary tools [and place] to do this swap or a close friend who does? Also you are moving a large chariot so these speed parts won't come cheap. Not trying to discourage you by ANY means, but just be sure your skills and resources are up to it. Keep us posted.

Guess I'll stick to gas. Perhaps a v-twin.

Most of those 35 mph cart owners are guessing. My radar analized XRT 800 with the 290 Kaw engine runs 24 mph, but I can pass a few who claim they are going 30 mph.
