Default Putting a mid to late 90's into a 1990?

Can you put a 96ish motor from a parcar into a 1990 parcar? I've maybe found a 9hp Briggs from a mid to late 90's that looks like it might work. I'd appreciate all of your thoughts.

you would louse reverse the newwer cart are 4 strokes the older ones are 2 strokes
