Ignition module to points
Hey guys, been lurking for info for a couple days.
I just picked up (I believe, no vin plate) 1988 par car that was claimed to not have sparks for 150$. In looking I realized the plastic ignition cam that goes on the crank is missing and nla. I believe I’m going to convert it back to points. My big question. What drives the points? Do I need to find a points cam for it? If so it looks like they interfere with the slot on the end of my crank that runs the pump, am I mistaken? |

Re: Ignition module to points
First things first, those plastic ignition cams ARE available just not individually. If you pick up a new ignition module it will come with a new plastic cam. There was a place called Kraft Implement that sold those for $120 which is cheaper than converting to points.
Check this out: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...formation.html There is a lot of info there about those ignitions and a link to a points conversion thread. |

Re: Ignition module to points
Kraft is still a good source for older parts as well. Brian is the Parcar guru and loves to help on these older ones. His email directly is Brian at KraftImplement dot com (Sorry Brian, if you read this I gave away your email address but maybe hid it enough from the bots out there)
