1989 gas Par Car just stops running
Hello,
I have a 1989 gas Par Car. When I am driving around with the gas pedal pressed all is good. I coast it dies and won’t start. I wait a minute or two and I can get it going again. I checked the brushes on the starter generator they look good. Fuel pump is new and working as it should too. A few other things done. New battery New air filter New fuel filter Removed and rebuilt carb Rebuilt top end Timing Thanks in advance for any input. |

Re: 1989 gas Par Car just stops running
A lot of times when a cart kicks out like that it's somehow heat related. That cart overheats and shuts down. Once it cools off it starts back up and until it overheats again.
Check to make sure that nothing is blocking the plastic shroud that encapsulates the engine as it is critical for cooling. If that's ok then check the condition of the cooling fan itself. Those fan blades were made thin and get brittle and bust off over time. If your fan is in bad shape it won't be able to do it's job. |
