hard to turn over
cart is running good now but its hard to turn over. I am pretty sure the battery is shot. What should the voltage from the voltage regulator be whit the engine running?

Re: hard to turn over
I would imagine somewhere between 13.0 and 15.7. Any higher, and it would overcharge the battery.

Re: hard to turn over
Hey jeggers, the 9HP came with 360CCA and the 13HP with 720CCA.
The starter/generator outputs depend on which unit is installed. The Standard Duty ADC unit 30083-04 puts out 12.16 VDC regulated at 1500 rpm and 12.9 VDC regulated at 2300 rpm. The Hitachi unit 30083-98 puts out 13.7 VDC regulated at 1500 rpm and 14 VDC regulated at 2300 rpm. Both measurements are with lights off. 1500 rpm is the minimum engine speed while creeping slowly with vehicle. 2300 rpm is a typical operating speed when moving at 5-10 mph. Re: hard to turn over
12volt starting batteries should not be charged over14.5-15volts, they will boil out and fail early. If you don't think you have enough CCA's to turn over, put a meter on the battery and measure the voltage drop while starting the cart. Anything below 10volts and you probably have a too small battery or a worn out one.

Re: hard to turn over
I placed a digital meter across the positive and negative of the battery and started the cart. the voltage did not drop below 11vdc. with throttle half way the voltage was at 15vdc and wide open 19vdc. This is what i found strange I cut the wire (red) from the regulator to the solenoid and still hit 19vdc then the black from the starter generator to the regulator and got the same.
