82 ParCar problems
Lately I've been having problems with my 82 Par Car. The electric motor doesn't want to turn over the engine enough to start. Checked the battery and that seems fine. Took out the plug and there is plenty of spark in it. When the spark plug is out, the electric motor turns it over with plenty of speed. Put the plug back in and will barely turn it over once. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 82 ParCar problems
I was wondering if it might be something to do with the gas/oil mix and maybe being plugged up. The oil injection pump does not work so I've just been mixing the gas and oil. I've mixed it anywhere from 32:1 to 128:1 ratios from what I've been told by other people. Only run a couple tanks each summer. What is the correct ratio to use?

Re: 82 ParCar problems
If it's not plugged up from the oil, what are some other causes for this problem?

Re: 82 ParCar problems
1-1/2 oz. oil per gallon of gas. 2 oz. is fine also. Make sure your starter belt is tight and not slipping. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Re: 82 ParCar problems
week battery, check for a voltage drop when starting, I have the same problem. sometimes it does not want to turn at all. Then when I push the peddle up and down and it starts right up. I checked for a voltage drop with a digital meter and realy should be done with an analog.

Re: 82 ParCar problems
I used to be able to getting it going by pushing the gas pedal up and down quite a few times. Maybe it is the battery. I just since it turned fine with the spark plug out that couldn't be it. Maybe it just doesn't have enough juice to turn it with the compression.

Re: 82 ParCar problems
Ended up being the battery. I tried everything else with no luck. Put in a new battery and it runs just fine. Thanks for all the help and ideas.
