Kris,

What are your plans for this cart? If you are going on the cheap then their are alot of threads on the carb and other issues in here. If you want to rebuild it to funtion flawlessly then pull it apart and rebuild the top end and replace the oil seals. Get your self a new carb, chances are yours is warn a little (throttle choke) but you can see it all when its apart. You can replace the reed plates when its torn down. Replace the spark plug and wire and check out the batteryand charging system. Replace the fuel filter and air filter. Replace the belts. These carts can be quick if they are in good condition, you must assume a 20 year old cart is going to need some work. If you real need this much help, help us help you, post some picture of all the componets and we can all take a look. BTW post the serial number so we can check on the year.

ok i think ill try to make a video and then post it on here or on youtube i come up with that its and 1989, thanks, my plans are for the family to enjoy it, but then again i dont want to put a ton in it if its not worth it i only gave $550.00 for it i thought its a good deal for a gas one that runs, i like it and the wife likes it,just trying to get it running good for the summer so when im at work they can play around on it and the atv, then go to tractor shows and car shows, just stuff to do to get out of the house. thanks kris i really thank you jeggers and the others.

Yes indeed you could spend literally thousands on this but as you say you don't want to. Now if basically you and the wife like the cart I suggest that a good service might cheer it up so I would replace the fuel filter (if fitted) the air filter and the spark plug. Now if it runs to your satisfaction then you are done. If you and / or your other half are still not happy then I suggest that you remove the muffler, build a big old fire in the yard and roast the muffler for at least 30 minutes. This will burn out all the accumulated residue in the baffles and allow the engine to breath. Now does it run better? ZIf not then it is time to clean the carburetor. Having said that the second best investment I made was a new carburetor, but it's your call. Anyway try that and see what happens

Dave,

Good call I forgot to mention the muffler.

Kris the link in i posted in your last thread has a carb for about 100. I would remove yours while you bake the muffler and see if things are warn and with it running you can spray around it with carb cleaner to look for vacuum leaks. If you find one the RPMs will go up. Good luck.
