Default Cart I.D. Please

Hey, got this cart from a friend. Need to have the starter generator rebuilt and a new battery then see where I'm at.. But I'm having some problems figuring out what year it is.. Any help is appreciated.

5K=G4 Gas Golf Cart
12287=consecutive serial number
C=1980's
3=3 (1983 as Jeggers noted)
