Default 1987 Columbia Parcar fuel pump issues.

I just bought a 1987 Columbia Parcar 3 wheeler and the former owner had replaced the fuel pump with a 12V electric pump. I'd like to change it back to the original style vacuum operated pump.
1. Do I need to use an original replacement pump or will a 2 cycle motor snowmobile pump work? (I have one, that's why I ask)
2. Can anyone share a picture of how the pump connects to the motor?
3. Are there any tips or tricks I should know about fuel delivery to these motors?
Thank you.

Hey Ducky!
I have a '83 & I think they are about the same.
I'll see if I have a pic of the set up.
Pardon my paint abillities!

I hope these help! I can get new pix if you can use them.

Good luck!

Wow, that is one clean engine compartment. I do see one Big difference right off the bat. I have an oil injection tank on my cart. I'll get some pics so everyone can see where I'm at.

I was not aware that those were injected, oh well I tried!
the fuel pumps should be the same, the oil mix would be in the carb.
Some pix should clear everything up!

Lucky today, it wasn't raining like it has been for the last week.

Here's a couple of pictures that should make things clear.

I wonder if that oil tank is stock?
Kinda' hard to see, but it looks like the fuel pump would just hook up like mine, plug the oil port on the carb, ditch the oil tank & run premix!

I'm sure someone with a little more knowledge on your year cart will chime in!

If you side by side the pix of yours & mine, they look like the same setup, you can get the pumps on Ebay cheap...I found one in the racing go cart section with a rebiuld kit for $7 a bit back.
I wish I could be of more help!

Thumbs up Re: 1987 Columbia Parcar fuel pump issues.

Thanks Strawhead. I think the oil is run right into the carb, so if I just replace the pump it should work. I just hope that the vacuum system doesn't have any surprises.

The oil tank WAS stock. After the pump would fail everyone just removes it and premixes. The pump was no longer available.

I picked up a Mikuni fuel pump for 2 cycle engine. I'm pretty sure someone in another thread had a link to the same one as sold by a online motorcycle parts dealer. I got mine at a local motor sports dealer for a little less than the total price by mail. Now I just have to plug it in.
