Default Engine type?

I was wondering if a 4 cycle engine would work? I was also wondering what the normal horespower would be in a golf cart engine?

Agri supply, Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, buy new @ $200 to $300?
Then clutch or clutch adaptor, engine mounting plate, throttle linkage, exhaust, starter, charging system.
Does your transaxle have forward and reverse in it?
