1991 Columbia Par Car.. oil mixture

Hello, I am new to this whole golf cart thing, but not new to motors etc. I did a lot searching on here, and learned a lot but I wanted to ask questions specific to my situation.

Back Ground: I just bought this Par Car from someone who really did not know the history. I ran the VIN or serial number "2L 22248 D1" and it returned as a 1991 P4G Legacy. The guy I bought it from told me he thought he has been mixing it like 50:1 but he really did not know. I told my mom not to drive it until I could do some research on it. I pulled the spark plug today (first chance to do a once over) and the plug was a nice light brown / tan color. Working on cars and dirt bikes I know this to be a good color. When I test drove it before buying it, it ran great. The engine felt and sounded strong, no back fire, smoke, sputtering etc etc. Now, after finding and reading the service manual on here I find that this golf cart should have a oil tank / pump that all you have to do is pour in the oil and it does the mixing for you. I left their house before I knew about this, so I do not know if it is still intact. My guess is that its probably still on there but empty and they were pre mixing it.

My two questions are as follows. If the oil tank is still there, what steps do I need to do to take it out of the equation? I read on here you should just unbolt it from the fan cover, and drive a bolt or screw in the hose and tape it up so no air gets in there. Is this correct? I am trying to get as much information on this stuff so when I go back out there I have what I need. I would rather just run the pre-mix so I know it has oil.

Second question. The golf cart will be used to drive up and around my parents back 40. They are older so probably half throttle. I have read SO MANY different answers on proper mixture. I have heard 80:1, 128:1 etc etc. For long distance and half throttle rides what do you all suggest for a mixture? My plan was to start at 80:1 and then pull the plug after a tank of gas and go from there. Would 80:1 be ok as a start point?

I know it needs a new air filter, and I will have to find one online, and I will probably buy a new plug for test purposes. The plug thats in there now is a Champion "J8C". That is not the one listed in the manual, so I have no idea if I should just stick with that one or go with the one listed in the manual.

I plan to clean out the gas tank, and start fresh. I thought about cleaning the carb, but then I thought "if it aint broke, dont fix it". Any other suggestions about what to look for on this golf cart would be great! Thanks!!!!

the older Columbias and Harleys used a 85:1 ratio. I don't have anything that new so I'm not sure on the 91.

I am pretty sure the mixture is 50;1,dont try to fix the oiler either,spend the 2 minutes to mix the oil and know its getting it,like you said on your post,just unbolt the tank and plug the lines, Better 2 much oil than not enough.hope this helps
