I also have a bad ignition module and had the same thought.
I've seen the parts individually listed that would be needed, the only problem is if the point cam is on the crankshaft.
I'll take mine apart this weekend to see if it can be done and will post what I find.

I checked my cart, no breaker cam on camshaft, so conversion to point type ignition not possible, looking for replacement module.

Is there a provision for adding the cam for points?

With new modules going for around $200, Going with points is the way to do it.
There should be a plastic disc that fits over the points cam, pop that off &the cam should be right there, if so ,all you will need is a point mounting plate & the points themselves.
I hope you can understand my rambling & it helps you out!

Thank You, Rev. Strawhead,
I was hopeing that was the setup, I had taken the cart apart outside and it began to rain, so I covered it up till next time.
I'll finish the job Saturday.
I use the cart for getting around at steam shows and at the Hesston Steam Museum near LaPorte, IN.
I'll post what I find out & describe the changeover process, I'm sure other guys could use the information

Thank You again,
