checking oil in case
I just got a 88 par car fresh from the field. I cannot get gas to card so I ordered a fuel pump. I was trying to figure out how to check the oil in the crank case to make sure that there was no water and I could get enough vacuum.
Thanks |

Re: checking oil in case
I may not be able to give you the info you need on an 88 model but I will try. First you are supposed to have a 2 cycle engine so there is no oil in the crank case. Oil is injected into the gas at the carb or mixed in the gas tank. You probably have a float bowl carb so if you are not getting fuel to the engine there is a need to check the engine completely. ie. What is the compression, are the crank case seals good, is there air leaks in the fuel line, and are the gaskets in the fuel system tight. There are other considerations but it will take more info from you to be able to give you the help you need. The fuel pump is driven from crank case vacuum so seal condition is vital!
