Old Columbia Cart
I have a Columbia Cart Serial # 5K11234C4, and would like to know if it is a 1984 model. It has a Harley Davidson motor (not the original) that uses premixed gas. I am going to lift it about 4 inches.

Re: Old Columbia Cart
Yep that should be an 84. I don't think Columbia went to oil injection till 86 which I think was also when they went to electronic ignition. The Columbia / Harley motors were very similar to the AMF / Harley ones. Most obvious difference is the Columbia era ones had a plastic shroud between the fan and head. The earlier ones it was all metal.
I don't think anyone makes a lift kit for that cart so its an all DIY project. Also not a especially powerful motor so if you are also going bigger tires you may be very disappointed in the performance. You may want to try finding a way to fit the larger tires for a test before you get too deep into the project. |

Re: Old Columbia Cart
The service manual for your year cart is very tough to find as it only covers years 83-85. It took me awhile but I was able to find one. If you shoot a private message to me with your email I'll see if I can email it over.

Re: Old Columbia Cart
My 83 three wheeler has the same rear end. There are two bolts that mount the axle to the frame on each side. You can add a bracket/spacers to raise the body up above the axle. This will also change the distance between the drive and driven clutches, meaning you would need a different belt. You also have to be careful to space evenly, so as to not change the angle of the driven clutch.
