Default No spark

I just replaced the engine on my 1987 Columbia par car with one from a 1991 and for some reason there is no spark. it has a brand new coil so I know that's not it and when I had the old motor hooked up it did have spark. i have made sure it's grounded and the wires are all hooked up so not sure what the problem is

Just to make sure, your motor is turning via the starter-generator right? Just no spark?

A lot of "no spark" issues are grounding related. First thing you want to do is run a temporary ground from the - on the battery to the motor somewhere. Most folks use jumper cable from the - to a motor mount. Run the motor and see if that does the trick. If so, find your motor ground and clean it or just run a new one.

If it's not the ground:

Get a multi-meter and ground it to the battery while putting the positive feed to the positive terminal on the coil. Press the accelerator to turn the motor. You should have around a 12v reading on that meter. If you don't then let us know as you will have to do some more testing.

If you do have 12v at the coil then there is a pretty good chance your iginition module needs replaced. A note, those coils must have a internal resistor or it will burn out the ignition module. You mention that you cart has a new coil, any idea if it has an internal resistor?

Sorry if you already checked this, but: Are you sure the solid state circuit breaker/points of the 91 work? You didn't mention checking them.
