Question Low Fuel Pump Vacuum

I have a 1984 ez go gas cart that has low fuel pump vacuum. It was running fine then all of a sudden, it started to barely run, backfire and finally quit running. What are some things to check to correct the problem?

Ripped diaphragm in the fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or leaking crankshaft seals.

This thread will show you what is inside of the fuel pump.

Thanks. I have replaced the fuel pump and filter. So, it must be the crankshaft seals. I have the motor sitting in my garage floor. How much do you have to disassemble the engine to replace the crankshaft seals?

You'll need to obtain (or make) a clutch puller and remove the clutch, the engine front, fan, and flywheel need to come off and the seals are a fast, easy 10min fix (the rest, especially the flywheel, can take some time, figure about an hour) ...

Make sure after You pry the old seals out that You clean the pocket they go into thoroughly (like with alcohol thoroughly) and use a little Loctite on the seal before installing to help hold them in place.
