Default New guy with a few questions.

Hello, newbie here looking to pick up my first cart. I've been browsing the form for a couple of days an thought I'd go ahead and jump right in. I'm looking to pick up a cart to use at our lake property. It will be probably be an older cart that I can use as a project. I was hoping I could get some general information from some of the experts here on some of the pro's and con's of the different brands, and basic differences. I'm not looking to start a brand war, just trying to figure out which one might be best for my needs.

We will use the cart to shuttle back and forth from our cabin to the lake, about a half mile away. It is a gravel road with some rough washed out areas, and a decent grade to climb coming back from the lake. Will usually have three to four people on board.

I'll probably want to add a lift and bigger tires to the cart at some point. A cart with a little better suspension might be preferred as well. I'll probably want to do some basic power mods to try and help with the ability to pull the hills with several adults in the cart.

So,
Should I be looking at 2 stroke or four stroke?
Are certain brands easier to Mod? (lift, engine, suspension)
Are parts cheaper and easier to find for certain brands?
Do certain brands have better stock suspensions?

I'm not looking for someone to tell me exactly which cart to buy, just a general idea of which ones may be better for my needs, and if I should avoid a certain brand or model. Maybe they are all so similar it doesn't matter, I don't know? I'll probably end up buying whatever I can find available at a good price, but if multiple options present themselves knowing which brand and model might suit my needs better would be helpful. I'm probably looking at something in the 1,000-1,500 dollar range, and then modify it to my liking.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Default Re: New guy with a few questions.

Thank you.

Yes, looking for a gas cart. I guess it all boils down to wanting to know the major differences between EZGo, Yamaha and Club Car. In regards to suspension, engines, reliability and ease of modification.
