Default 1982 ezgo lack of power

so i rebuile thr engine in me cart. new crank, rod, piston, cylindre, carb, all the bearings and seals. i removed the oil injection. and have a 50/1 premix. it back fired one time and pop a seal out. but it just seem to have a lack of power. i seem better in reverse. that make me think it a timimg thing? i had the pulser plate off but i marked it and put it back in the same spot. i was thinking about finding TDC and marking the flywheel and putting a timing light on it. i use this to tow my race car so i just want it to run good and be dependable. i am going to take the premix to 100/1. any help would be great thanks jon

Did you put the piston in with the hole facing the intake side?

I've seen some of the 3rd-world jugs that were pretty off on ports, and overall height.

It's possible. If you get/make a piston stop, and verify TDC marking, you can work from there.

In your first post, you didn't mention anything about replacing, or checking the diaphragms in the fuel pump.

Did you use any kind of sealer between the case halves when you put them back together?

Try removing the drive belt and running it to see if it revs up any better. That would eliminate any issues with the clutches, and rear end.

yes i used case sealer.no i did not rebuild the fuel pump. but i just got a kit for it. the cart ran pretty goot before the rebuild. it was just hard to start.the piston was worn and the rings were stuck bad.
