Re: crank feels tight
What all parts did you replace? How did you install the crank and it's bearings?

Re: crank feels tight
i had a friend press new 6206 bearings on a brand new crankshaft. then i tapped covers together using a rubber mallet when they got close enough for me too fasten together with the bolts i did so in a star patern to press the cases together as even as possible

Re: crank feels tight
I just did mine. The crank should turn by hand with no problem... I'm talking about without the cyclinder and piston installed. Did you oil the bearings and seals before you pulled the housing together?

Re: crank feels tight
Normally, you'd want to heat the case and put the bearings in it, then slide the crank in. You can likely leave the seals out, heat the case and tap each (protected) end of the crank, seating the bearings in the case.

Re: crank feels tight
i bet that is where i went wrong i should have pressed the bearings into the case and not onto the crank itself when assembling the case i bet i put stress on the bearings now im having trouble getting the case apart. i think i will need to press it apart. harbor freight has a arbor press on sale for 40 bucks i bet i cant pay someone to do it for less than that. i dont know let me know what you all think

Re: crank feels tight
If you protect the ends of the crank, rotate to BDC, slip a wedge between the crank halves on either side of the rod, you should be able to tap it in to seated.
Pic tomorrow, to clarify. lol |

Re: crank feels tight
i am going to try to separate the case again tonight. wish me luck. my best guess is one of the bearings was not absolutely true and when i put the crank halves together one them is binding. i used heat and tapped it with a rubber mallet to separate it the first time. hopefully this method works again but i am going to guess this will not be the case this time.
