Hi I am new to the golf cart world and am thinking about trading my 4 wheeler for a gas powered ez go, not sure what year it is but it looks like an older marathon. It appears to be in good condition but I was wondering if anyone can tell me the important things to check? Are there certain years to stay away from? I am hoping to go drive it tomorrow and see how it runs. Also is it possible to build an inexpensive lift and if so how?
Thanks |

LOOK for rust. Those marathons can be hard to work on once they get rusty...look for something newer like a medalist or txt.......IMO

I tend to agree with Scotty on the newer cart thing, I guess it depends on what kind of money your talking about. I wouldn't trade a $2000 atv for a marathon. and yes it's possible to build lifts for some of them...... and you want to know how to do this on a cart you may or may not get or even know which model it is. Do you happen to see a disconnect here...

Thanks for the info, after looking the cart over I think I am gonna keep looking, the one I was looking at was a 1988 model and not in the best condition. the reason I was asking how to build the lift was to see if it was something I was capable of doing or If I would have to pay to have it done. what year ezgo do yall think I can find for around $1500. Thanks again for your info..

bajarebel1...
Welcome to the fun house. Once you listen to the good advice the experts here give you, open up the wallet and let the spending begin. It is possible to build your own suspension, providing you have the equipment and tallents, and can get you hands on the proper material. A good understanding of the therory of operation in a suspension is also something to have in the memory bank. First rule of thumb is...Don't panic! We are all here to help you in any way we can. Where are you located? |
