Default Well it started, time for a "Do Over" on the Street Racer, LOL ....

SO the bug bit me and I decided to pick up another Yamaha, thought that as long as I already had the EZGO that's been pushed to the stock max (Bored 350 with 295 head, cam, heavier springs, bored jetted and polished carb, Zemco, machined clutches, 6:1 gears, and a bad appetite for race gas) I would see how close (with Don Plowmans help) I can push the little 357 ricer ... But I really don't need another "Street Cart" so I decided to just shake it all up in one big "Golf Cart Snowglobe" and see what happened.

I started here w the EZGO

And after a couple of hours managed to get this far ...

The new-style shocks are really nice in the LT kits, I have no idea what I'm going to do with this stupid little chrome "Barbie Dream Brushguard" but I'm sure I can make a nice doorstop out of it or something and figure out something much beefier and more appropriate for the cart, LOL. Had a speedbump when I took the old front apart though, what seems to be the problem HERE?

I figured as long as I was at it, what a great time to take the steering rack apart and clean and lube it real nice - it had been getting sloppy lately and I figured maybe it was time for a rebuild, thank GOD I already had the stuff ready (including a spare housing) once I found one of the 3 mounts was cleanly broken off. Oh well, 45min and a beer later I was all good to go with a freshly rebuilt, structurally intact rack !!!

SO - Tomorrow I mess with the rear, do an alignment, and shake her down - she already hit a solid 38mph with the 20.5" high 205/50-14's, I'm banking on breaking 40 with the 23's that actually stand at 23.75" - looks like I'd better grab another couple 5's of Race Gas, LOL.

NEXT on the list are some cosmetics, if my good buddy KGSC can still help me out *hint hint* ... The roll cage needs a good sanding and a repaint from people grabbing it for dear life, hahahaha, some big flares are a must to keep the mud at bay (plus I have to dig through my spacers, I'm sure the rear end needs to get a bit more width) - I'm tellin' ya, the only thing cooler than your absolute favorite golf cart is taking your absolute favorite golf cart totally apart and changing everything

Well the project is done *for now* as I have a Yamaha that needs some attention ... And I really need to figure out the rear end which is hard as a brick after lifting it (I had workhorse springs on the cart to prevent sag and roll when it was lowered so with the lift, etc it basically HAS no rear suspension at the moment). My thought is to hit up one of my fab buddies to make me a couple of links and just go to coilovers on the rear, I found a set that looks to be the right specs (basically identical to the fronts) so I went ahead and ordered them and will play around with it more next week.

The scary part was taking her out for the first spin, sputtering and acting weird, couldn't get her over 33 ... Until I decided to actually open my eyes and see the stretched choke cable that was running it at about 15% choke ... Some minor tweaks and she started purring again, but with the softer tires (in spite of the size difference) she ran out at 38, same as with the 14's, oh well I'll live with that, no problem :)
