Angry EZGO TXT Fleet Restoration Transmission & Solenoid/Reg Issues

Just purchased my second buggy for restoration. Its a J298 TXT Fleet & it has two main problems.
1) Solenoid/Voltage Reg
previous owner did a jury rig mod with a push botton switch which needs to be used when starting. It effectively connects the battery +ve to one of the main terminals of the solenoid. Once started you can release that push button & it works ! Can hear solenoid operating when accelerator pedal pushed. Suspect either voltage regulator or solenoid or both any views please?

2) Driven Clutch
Buggy has a rough/sudden take off then OK. Just noticed that driven clutch has a noticeable wobble. Its not loose & likely result of physical damage. Wont find out until its removed if its the clutch unit itself or perhaps the shaft going into gearbox/axle. Any ideas please?

Cheers Russ

I would consider rechecking the electrical system to figure out what the other guy did. As far as the clutch issue, it could be internal but pull it off and inspect it. You may find it is something simple. Here is the schematic :

Once again you come up trumps...that's a far better manual than the one I had already downloaded.... I have been out of action for a while (knee replacements!!! hence the buggies !!)....
Isolated the electrical problem ....removed jury rigged wiring ...it was the solenoid itself...now replaced......
Just had the driven clutch removed & its definitely the driven clutch itself that has had a bad bang & is warped....
I see that there are various versions of driven clutch 28deg, 36deg, hi torque etc...what do you recommend?

Tks another million sccowboy... we now have the driven clutch well & truly off ..the remaining splined shaft into rear axle looks true & the driven clutch sheaves look true externally but the whole driven clutch definitely has a severe wobble on it.. ...so its looking like internal parts maybe the problem......so far we have not been able to dismantle the driven assembly despite safe removal of retaining clip & gentle tapping on cam part whilst still having protection in case it suddenly allows spring to spring! ....even my local garage mechanic is having probs dismantling it.. now left it to soak but I am thinking that the whole cam assembly is definitely ceased & no chance of any movement in use...I am now thinking that perhaps the splined shaft portion fixed as part of the fixed sheave may be out of alignment after a bad knock (even though there is no visible evidence of any bang on the sheaves themselves)...if this is the case then think I will have to go for a complete new driven clutch....will go for 28

Driven clutch totally seized up..... cant get cam portion off at the moment.... letting it soak, tried heat gun but no joy.... will let it soak longer & perhaps try a bit more heat.... worst that can happen is probably the nylon buttons get fried I guess.... meanwhile have ordered a complete 28 deg driven clutch....& will hope that my mechanical & electrical problems will be solves so that i can get on with the cosmetic restoration !

Did I give you this link? It tells how to go about dealing with that clutch. You may need to find a big bench vise or press to dislodge the splined section.
