How much oil in rearend
How much oil should I put in the rear axle? The manual says 40oz of SAE 30 oil and in the manual I thought it said fill to the drain plug. Added that much but it is no where near the fill plug. should I fill up till it leaks out the fill plug?

feel pretty stupid right now. I put more oil in just to see what it would take. got up to 2 quarts total and then realized I screwed up. I assumed the fill and the check holes were the same. They aren't Here is a picture. I pulled the check plug and oil came out.

I have really slacked on mine, I have never changed mine and it's a 95
 and I know the guy that had it before me did not. But I have the gear oil and will hopefully get it changed tomorrow. I'm sure it is well over due. |
