Default gas ezgo starting problem

I have a 1984 gas ezgo and I can’t get the starter to kick in to start the unit. A new solenoid is in place and all the wiring seems to be correct. I shorted across the solenoid posts and the engine cranks and it’s getting plenty of fuel but won’t start. The micro-switch seems to be ok. I’ll by-pass the micro eventually so the cart can idle. I was just wondering if anyone might have some helpful pointers on what I might check to chase down this problem. I’m new to the forum have only been here once before on an elect cart.

Check out this wiring diagram.

You should be looking at your key switch, fuse, pedal microswitch, and the microswitch in the FNR selector. They are all hooked in a series.

Thanks a lot. It'll be helpful. Now all I have to do is get the time to finish the project. Thanks again. Will post the results.

just curious, why would you want to bypass the micro switch, and let the cart idle?

I don’t really have sound reasoning for the cart to idle. I use the cart for chores around the home and I’m on and off the cart often and seems more convenient for my purposes. I guess it’s Just a quirk of mine. I have two carts this being the second one acquired from a friend who couldn’t get it to run. I actually purchased this cart for parts but that seemed a waste. Thanks to you and your wiring diagram it is running now. The wiring was a mess. Thanks bunches for your help.
