Default 1987 ez go no spark

So I dug the cart out today and don't seem to have any spark. Orange wire off coil shows nothing with a test light. The green one does. There is a blue and red wire combination that comes out of the motor and neither of those show any juice. All of this was checked with a test light both while turning motor over and without turning motor over. I guess my questions are... Shouldn't the orange wire have a flashing light through a test light while turning over that's related to spark and the red and blue wire combination that come out of the motor go to where? Should they show juice on a test light while turning the motor over? They seem to be a possible lead from a magneto style conductor maybe? It seems to have juice everywhere else that it should. A buddy and I went through all the basic electronics trouble shooting and we agreed that maybe that red and blue wired connection and where it goes seem to be the problem. Drove it to the parking spot after a long day letting kids drive in extremely dusty conditions with a noticeable lose of power and this is the first time in about 6 months I've even turned the key on.

The red, and blue wire coming out of the engine go to the pulsar. It is a magnetic pick up coil that should show anywhere between 70, and 150 ohms. It will not show power.

Sitting for 6 months is usually a corroded ground wire somewhere. It's time to pull each wire one at a time for a good cleaning.

The pulsar is most likely ok. It connects to the exciter. I don't believe anybody knows of a way to test those. If it does happen to go bad, the HEI conversion is performed for about $50. The exciter is not worth paying the replacement price.

You should then get familiar with this thread. Even if you don't convert, there is a good wiring diagram.

Thank you for the replies. I'll dig out the ohm meter and see what happens. I've been wanting to do the conversion anyway. Guess now is as good a time as any. I'll see how it shakes out and post later with results. I have odd hours so it may be a few days.

A quick question...isn't mine the 2pg? Is the conversion the same?

Yes, same conversion. Mine is also an 87. Like most people, I did an unnecessary conversion. It looked like I had a spark issue when I had a leaky fuel pump that was flooding the plug.

Never mind. A little reading on the thread link and it answered my questions. So basically as long as the pulsar ohms correctly this should do the trick. Worst case scenario is it doesn't ohm correctly then the question would be how hard is the pulsar to replace? Thanks in advance

Section L-1 is a wiring diagram, and R-5 is step by step troubleshooting of the electrical system.

One trick i learned a long time ago on hei conversions on bikes.
Pulser coils are not made equal.
Hook up your meter on mili amps or volt ac.
Ground one lead from the meter with one of the pulser leads.
Have the other lead hooked to the pulser not grounded.
Crank the engine and measure the output.
Then reverse the pulser leads so you ground the opposite and test the other leads output. One configuration will have more output then the other.
Use that configuration with higher output with one lead grounded.
Have seen this work on previously thought bad pulser coils.
They seem to minor short inside and ground internally basically making 2 coils in one.
One with insufficient output one with high output.
