Default 91 Ez Go Surging

I have a 91 Ez Go with a Robins 295 that is giving me a headache. It is surging at all speeds. I have put new plugs in, adjusted the valves, cracked the gas cap, swapped out ignition coils with a known good one, tried a gravity feed aux tank, messed with the linkages a little bit, cleaned the carb, tried running the engine with the choke in all positions and it still surges, compression is at 155lbs on both cylinders. The engine sounds fine with no noises and it sounds strong.

Also tried adjusting the linkage. It was way off, but made no difference.

I would think that surging is fuel delivery.

For the sake of my curiosity have you changed your fuel pump? My cart wouldn't so much surge but just slow down (because it was running out of gas) and I'd have to pull the choke to get it going. That fuel pump was working but it wasn't putting out enough fuel for the cart to run properly.

I see you tried a gravity feed but that too may not give the cart enough fuel??? I agree with Cart Around in that it's something with the fuel delivery. Hope you get it figured out!

Tried a new fuel pump and still have the surging.

I am going to try and adjust the governor out a little and see if that does anything. Also, I haven't looked at the clutches yet. Does anyone think they would be a culprit.

I do think it feels like fuel delivery, but I don't know what else to check. New carb, new pump, adjusted linkage, adjusted valves. I am also going to put on new fuel lines and new fuel filter for good measure.

Any other suggestions. New fuel lines now too. disconnected the governor and actuated the carb by hand while pressing on the gas and still get the same result.

Im thinking maybe an ignitor or pulser issue.

Pulsar coil ohmed out at 19ohms, so I think that it is good. I am getting about 35% leakage past the rings. Would that cause a surge? Compression is still excellent.

when you say surging, does the cart jump as soon as accelerator is pressed down...with no slow speed pick-up?
