Default 95 ezgo medalist surging / cutting out

Hey everyone, my 95 has developed a surge at anything over about 1/4 throttle, sort of acts like a rev limiter just kinda like on the gas off the gas over and over. Runs fine at 1/4 throttle actually made it through the weekend like that lol.

Things I tried, new plugs and wires, valve lash, wire connections, cleaned carb and filter along with verified fuel delivery, checked all linkages. Took cdi box or ignitor box off checked wires going in they looked a little unsealed and was damp out so thought maybe just maybe in got moisture in there so blew out and sealed up and bam ran perfect again for about 5 mins then back to same thing, tried drying box more but no luck.

Any helps would be great, only thing new to cart in my years of ownership is I recently installed a 5 inch lift, 23 inch tires and LED head lights, none of witch I would think would cause this issue?

Thanks

I'm going to just throw this out there. It probably has nothing to do with your surging.

Lifting the cart has changed the angle of your engine. Your oil dipstick is no longer accurate. If you add oil to the full mark on the stick now, it will only be a matter of time before you get oil in the air cleaner, and start having running issues.

The proper quantity is 1.5 quarts.

Could this be the cause of your surging? I don't know.

If I had to guess I would say carb but that's just a guess. Might be worn out. Is it the original?

Not sure of how the governor linkage is set up on a 95 but I had the surging trouble on a 98.
Can you post a picture of the driver's side of the motor above the clutch?

No signs of oil in box as of yet, carb shows no signs of wear but is original governor is the style on the rear diff but has not been messed with in years, possible the lift and new angle of motor and such changed how it works inside maybe? I'll get pic tomorrow

For sure you will need to drain and refill the oil with exactly 1.5 qts and scribe the stick. As far as the surging..... sounds like a fuel issue or possibly if you have it filled with oil to the factory mark, it could be forcing oil into the pulse line of the fuel pump. Now that may not be it at all and maybe as Stove mentioned, you could have a governor issue. Check out these two threads:

Even backing the governor back to stock setting, unhooking rod that goes to back and just using hand to operate throttle on carb, putting exactly 1.5 quarts of oil still save issue.

DO you have a manual choke? If so try running full throttle with choke at 1/4 closed.I suspect starvation of fuel with larger tires installed.
