2 wires cut won't start
Hello. I just got a 1984 gas EZGO golf cart and it won't start. The PO stated that his brother messed with a couple wires and then it wouldn't do anything. When I picked it up (yesterday) I noticed that the cover to the voltage regulator was hanging off and that the red and green wires have been cut about 3 inches from the regulator. When I entered the serial number with ShopEZGO.com, it does not bring up any results. The model is listed as a F15 84 Textron. Can anyone point me to a picture that shows where the red and green wires go? I have found several wiring diagrams, but I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around what is what from a black and white illustration. I am more of a "need to see it" kind of a learner.
Thanks for any help in advance! |

Re: 2 wires cut won't start
The green wire goes to the middle terminal of the regulator and the small terminal on the starter.
The red wire goes to the left of the green one on the regulator. The other end of the red wire goes to the large terminal on the solenoid. Which large terminal you ask? The solenoid has 2 large terminals. One connects directly to the battery. The other connects to the starter. You want the large terminal that connects to the starter. |

This is the direction you should be looking from when I say the left terminal.
When you reconnect those 2 wires, it's still not going to start. |

Re: 2 wires cut won't start
Carts run with bad voltage regulators. The batteries die. You won't know it's not working until you charge the battery a few times.
To test the regulator, we disconnect the green wire, ground it out, and run the cart. The voltage then shoots up to 19 volts. That's how we know the generator is working. Scan through the manual. There is good information in there. |

Thanks for the info. The manual does have some good stuff in there. Looks like a day of reading for me.
Much appreciated |
