3pg upgrade to HEI now no spark

I'm new to this forum. I have a 89 marathon with a 3pg engine had problems starting, when cool it would start once it gets hot it might not. I've read your threads about the HEI upgrade so I installed one , when I started it it ran for 1 second and that's it. Now no spark checked pulser it reads 155 ohms but I'm not getting a voltage reading , I guess my question is could this upgrade take out my pulser especially when it could have been the problem to begin with

If the pulsar was suspect to begin with, that could be the problem.
If it was wired incorrectly, it could have taken out the pulsar.

I made sure the wiring was correct checked it twice. But a couple of times it wouldn't start in forward but it would start in Reverse I would have to drive it in reverse for a minute and then it would start in forward the motor always crank over just wouldn't run . This happened before I put the hei system in. Would the pulser cause this to happen if so where can I buy a new Pulsar

Have you tried swapping the red and blue wires coming from the pulsar? I think the diagram shows them reversed.

I have tried switching the leads sorry to say still no spark

Running it in reverse to start it is what caught my eye. That is usually a sign of worn crankshaft seals.

I highly doubt it is a pulsar issue. They very rarely fail. New hei modules have been known to fail, or are not compatible with certain coils.

Try a new plug too. Gap around .030".

Under further examination I left the ground wire off the module it looked like it was hooked up but wasn't. I checked ohms on pulser read 150 voltage only .1 , since I didn't catch this would that take out my new module? I'm going to get a new module tomorrow and try it.

I must be brutally honest here. Please don't take it as "me being mean". I am just trying to tell you about the nature of the gurus on this forum.

This should have taken less than an hour to sort out. Maybe a few hours through this forum.
It is very difficult for any of us to gather interest in resolving an issue if the OP doesn't stick around and add to the conversation. Staying engaged in the thread will be your fastest route to a resolution.

I really hope you decide to stick with the forum. These guys are some of the "best of the best"!
