Key start/run Question
Hey guys - Another question - before I dive into it this time.
I want to run a key start with my 2007 ST Sport - I see the start mechanism in the foot pedal is only 2 wires so I assume when you complete this circuit the motor starts and runs. I want to eliminate the foot start so I can allow the motor to idle. If I use a relay to complete this circuit that is controlled by a standard automotive key switch do you see it causing any issues? If I understand correctly it will start and run as soon as it is in the on position. I will be running a small winch on occasion and don't want to completely drain the battery while doing so. Any thoughts? Has anyone done anything like this? |

Re: Key start/run Question
Your bypass design will work to keep cart running at idle. Be aware that those starter/generator are only rated 15A and the dont output full until about 2000-2500RPM , so using them on idle want gain you much.

Re: Key start/run Question
Thanks, I'm aware of their low output, but my thought is 5amp out put is better than nothing, or trying to restart with a low/dead battery. I'm thinking about installing an automotive alternator, just don't know how it will affect the performance.

Re: Key start/run Question
Yes a small denso,40a, want effect performance much and dp a lot. Ill just threw out this idea to connect it to your s/g.Remove the s/g pulley and install a double pulley there and build a mount for the denso and connect with belt to the extra pulley.
