89 Marathon Project Augusta GA
This is the official start of the restoration of the 89 Marathon cart I brought home on 11/4/15. This cart has not run in three years and was sitting outside unprotected. This will be a complete tear down and rebuild. I am feeling fairly confident that I have found the right forum that will get me through this project. Expect to see lots of posts from me.
Some pic here: http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/Th...slideshow/Cart So first thing is to get this cart running. I will admit..I am not an experienced mechanic. So where should I star first? Electrical? When I turn the engine by hand I hear sounds that are kinda like a sucking thump noise. The air filter was removed ..I have it but no bolts to re attach it. |

Re: 89 Marathon Project Augusta GA
Going to get a battery today and start testing the electrical system and see what I get. There are some wires that are unplugged and some that are spliced/hacked. Most everything looks original..and as old as the cart...so any suggestions on what to focus on and test first?

Re: 89 Marathon Project Augusta GA
Ok..got a new battery... and absolutely no signs of life. I knew most likely I was going to have to clean ground contacts and replace some wiring...but was just hoping for at least a little life. So anyone with electrical advice..chime in. Also will be pulling all switches and inspecting.
