workhorse/txt fuel tank question
Ok I have a 93 marathon and need a new fuel tank.I want to put in a newer tank from a txt or medalist with a gas guage/sender.Marathons do not have the flat spot to mount a sender and the tank is on the left side.I want to know if the txt/medalist/workhorse tank will fit in the frame on the right side. The tank measurements i have now are 21" long(including mounting tab in the back) by 8 3/4" wide at the front.Anyone ever done this or possibly give me a measrement on a newer tank? Thanks,Richie

Re: workhorse/txt fuel tank question
Here's the measurements of the tank in my '04 TXT..
Length, Top - 20" Length, Bottom - 14" Height - 12 1/2" to top of mounting tabs Width @ widest point - 9" Width @ narrowest point - 7" In the pic below, you can see the tank is shaped to fit against the rear wheel well.. The bottom is also "stepped" on one side to fit around the frame rail.. Hope this helps... |

Re: workhorse/txt fuel tank question
That tank is so shaped for that location and side ... it is hard to imagine it will fit in a different model on a different side. I don't use the gauge... I look at the side of the tank to see how much fuel is in it

Re: workhorse/txt fuel tank question
Does you gas cap not have a guage on it? I bought a new cap for my 94 and the gauge works great. Seat up to check it but thats not too big of deal for me.

Re: workhorse/txt fuel tank question
It's not that it's a big deal,I just need a new tank and would like to get one that has the guage "flat spot" on it because I have a new fuel guage and sender from my old cart that I never installed for the same reason(no flat spot)).I have made a guage panel for the dash with three holes(oil press, volts and fuel level) and was hoping to use it.No biggie. If I have to I'll put my clock in there.
