'90 ezgo GX444. Carb pains.
Hey folks,
Good to be back. I have a '90 GX444 with a worn throttle shaft, not the choke, but the throttle shaft. I was finally able to get some more work done on the beast and now have it painted and running. The throttle is finnicky at best and I still have a few more issues to address, one of which is this throttle. There is a lot of wear on the shaft bushing at the top, and it can be moved quite liberally. my question is; is it possible that this wear can introduce enough air in the mix to hamper the amount of suction that's required to draw fuel up and through the throat and so lowering that suction enough to want to die when you get going? I finally replaced the fuel pump innards with a kit and got it to run, it runs well enough, but most of the time it needs the choke to force suction. Mind you, I have had no chance to seriously get into taking it for a spin, but it went around the house once and then started the low power and quitting problem. the engine compression is fine as are the seals and fuel flow from the pump. When I use the choke it picks up and goes until I let off the choke when it dies. Any one have any advice? Thanks, E.Z. Last edited by E-Z-RIDER; 12-08-2015 at 06:59 PM.. Reason: brainfart. |
