2013 KAWASAKI EZGO Hill climb
I have a 2013 EZGO TXT 13hp Kawasaki lifted with wheel and tire kit, works great has only a few hours on it. We recently moved to a large wooded lot about 10 acres and this is why i bought it, for my 10 & 13 year children to enjoy some trail riding. However a very large portion of this property is only accessible by a trail with a 40 to 50 yard long hill that is a little steep. 1st attempt by me to go down and then go back up went smooth but since this very first attempt it will slow down and then stop 70 to 80% of the way up. Engine seems to be running fine so it must be a clutch or belt issue. I assume its because we are using it for something it wasn't designed originally for. I just need to know what the best fix for this is. Clutch? if so what is the best choice? or belt what is the best choice? or should i do both? If i need to offer additional info please tell me and i will post that as well. thanks for your time and help.

I will be following this thread as my 2009 with the Kawasaki motor behaves the same way. Plenty of speed 23 mph on flat ground but struggles on hills.

Re: 2013 KAWASAKI EZGO Hill climb
The 2013 cart should have the Team drive clutch which is all silver. The 09 may have the original Kawasaki clutch/black which had issues. My 09 RXV was squealing when I first bought it and it was caused by a wear ring in the drive clutch. I bought the Team clutch upgrade package for EZ because the package was cheaper than just the stock clutch. I lost a little overall speed but gained a good bit of torque. I was running 21 inch tall tires and it would climb well. With yours, take the seat off and climb that same hill to see what is slipping. And have you tried a new belt ?

As far as mine goes I just received the Kawasaki/Team HD clutch upgrade PKG. I have not a chance to install it yet but when I do I will report back what happens. I also have 22 inch tires that I will be installing soon.

Re: 2013 KAWASAKI EZGO Hill climb
Hopefully the TXT install should be simple. On my RXV I had to pull the real leafs loose at the back and the shocks loose so I could drop the rear far enough to get the clutch removal tool in the clutch. Frame member blocked the hole.. Bad EZGo, Bad engineer..

Re: 2013 KAWASAKI EZGO Hill climb
severe duty belt to arrive today, and hopefully that will make a difference. We also adjusted the throttle cable over the weekend and that made a big difference having a wide open carb that was previously only 1/3 open with the pedal down. We got 26mph on flat blacktop!!! We will try the hill tonight before putting on the severe duty belt to see if she can climb it with a little more fuel, I will update again if we can get this cart over this hill...... Thanks for the posts.

If you only had 1/3 throttle before I'm surprised it would climb anything.. Belt will help but may not need it..

Perhaps previous owners had it dialed down because of young kids using and no hills around |

Re: 2013 KAWASAKI EZGO Hill climb
The system runs on friction and centrifugal force I would have thought that even at 1/3 throttle it might have made it but if the belt was slipping due to lack of friction it just couldn't make it.. We will see..

Re: 2013 KAWASAKI EZGO Hill climb
Just FYI... My 2015 will climb a long / steep hill on my property without issue, even when loaded down with 5 people. I can even stop and restart on the incline with no problem. My cart came with the TEAM clutch and I have adjusted my governor to let it run at 27 mph on the flats.
