Default Hey everybody!

I've had this old 86 ezgo with a 244 robin, I was wondering if anyone has had one of these bored out and if so was the difference noticeable?
Any input would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks in advance.
19 mph just isn't doing it anymore lol

Boring it out .50mm will add just over 3 cc's to the displacement. so you go from 244 to 247.6 cc's.
NO engine gains much from over boring unless you do some serious boring like an 1/8 of an inch, or more.
If you want more beans, you can look at some MILD porting, SMALL increase in tire diameter, make sure the engine is in good mechanical condition, seals and gaskets are good, rings sealing well, etc. You can also increase the CR some by cutting either the top of the jug or the head. Never had one of these apart, not sure which is easier to do. Have seen some 2 stroke heads where the chamber extended below the head gasket, those would be harder to cut than the top of the cylinder.
But to answer your question, you will not even notice making the bore any bigger (unless of course yours is in bad shape, then a fresh straight and round bore would make a difference.)

Cool bud thanks for the info! By any chance would adding more gaskets to the head make any difference, I read somewhere on here someone has done that and said that helps, or should I just shave the head?

Not sure what adding more gaskets would do. I would think it would have a negative effect on a two stroke. Is your carb stock? If so you can probably go up a size or two. Stock is probably a 18mm, you can probably go to a 24, and tweak the reed cage a bit.

They said it raised the head for compression reasons if I remember right, and it ha the 24 carb, how do you adjust the reeds? Mine is just a flat spacer looking deal

Adding a head gasket would lower the compression ratio and cause a resulting loss in thermal efficiency and of course less power. Now someone MAY have added a base gasket to the jug, while that would also reduce CR it would also change port timing, and I suppose it is possible to have port timing so bad, that "fixing" it with an extra gasket MAY give more gain than is lost by the lower CR.
I am never an advocate of just "doing" something, I like to have all the data possible first. So before I cut the head, I would want to calculate the CR to see if I want to do that, or how much I can, etc.

Oh I'm sorry my bad you are right on that, the base gasket was bigger, I'm just trying to get more guts out of this thing, at one time I had it run 29 mph but after that never got close.and I'm not exaggerating I used a gps hahah.

I use mine to plow snow. Mine does 15mph, and probably around 10 pushing snow. So I am guessing that maybe my clutches are not working as they should. I am pretty sure my driven clutch needs a bushing, I will machine one for it this spring.
Anyway, If you really want speed and power, get a big block, and a 4 stroke rear end, and you will have all you need, and then some!
