Default EZ-GO 295cc has excessive compression

Well. decided to adjust both exhaust & intake valves after experiencing fouled plugs & hard start issues. Followed proper format as outlined in forums here, with both valves set (cold) at .004mm or snug.005mm, initially found 2 loose & 2 tight . Inspected lifter/spring action when rotating cam & all appeared good, resealed valve cover & retorqued bolts ok. When I attempted to start buggie I was confronted with very sluggish engine rotation, almost as if battery was not charged enough....but it is a good 12v battery.
My question I guess is... what causes such slow rotation, excessive compression with valves reset to spec ?
Will an addition jumped battery help spin (295cc, twin cyl) motor over any faster, so I can get her running again ?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts & hints on how to overcome this dilemma.

Did you really set them to .004 millimeters, or did you mean to say .004" (4 thousandths of an inch)? .004 mm is tighter than a bullfrog's butt.

A good question to ask while troubleshooting is, "What did I change before it started doing this?"

How old is engine? Check, make sure exhaust is not plugged.

I've had this issue before and found the negative ground cable to the batt was getting extremely hot... i.e. a bad ground connection.. I charged the battery good and cleaned all main ground connections and solved my problem.. Check that and see what you find..
