Default Is there a better engine for Yr2000 EZGO Shuttle without a lift

Hi there.

Trying desperately to get info on whether there is a power upgrade for my EZGO Shuttle, without lifting the cart. Can't seem to get anywhere with this.

The cart's engine and gearbox are toast and so I could buy an alternative engine now if one will fit, if this will give me more than the standard (9?) HP. Current engine is 295cc. Alternatively are there any power enhancing mods for the existing engine?

Reason I don't want to lift is wife told me my last lifted cart was unstable and this is a family vehicle. I have a modified electric club car which runs 30 mph on the flat with standard wheels (although this is a little hairy) and just want the same power out of my gas EZGO.

Many thanks

Any of the single cylinder clone motors will fit on the Vegas Carts cradle without needing to be lifted. V Twins will need a lift to fit under the seat.

A Vegas carts 460 would definitely get you well beyond 30mph, the cheaper 420 clone motors with the proper mods to the governor would probably get you close to there as well if you're comfortable working on the motor a little.

Keep in mind that the clone will not be anywhere near as quiet as the stock engine...

I would not say that is exactly true.My clone is very close to being as quiet as stock.I would say if you are only willing to spend $25-$50 on some car muffler the sound results are so so but using a muffler designed to quiet an ATV such as a silent rider or kolpin the results are much better.

Hi guys. I just rode in a EZGO cart with a single cylinder replacement engine and it was **** noisy and sounded terrible. Are there any dual cylinder replacements and if not can some recommend a single cylinder clone and muffler combo which will sound close to stock quietness?

OK I see rayhd is using a vegascarts 460 engine which is what is recommended above. Vegascarts offer a Walker muffler as a standard option. Are there quieter muffler options which will better suit a family vehicle (I want as quiet as possible or my wife will complain)...is the silent rider the better choice and will it fit an unlifted cart? With the best muffler available can I get close to stock motor noise levels?

Better still, is there a twin cylinder clone option which would work on an unlifted cart?

Many thanks again!
