Default Govenor adjustment, hardly any change?

I have been playing around with the govenor on my 2002 ezgo 295cc cart. I have moved the nut about 1/2 inch from stock setting and gained 2mph on the gps .Runs 18-19 mph on 23 inch tires, throttle plate opens all the way
Is this all I can expect in gains or do I need to keep tightening the nut?
Compression is good, new carb and drive clutch. The driven clucth sheave does have some wear I suppose this could be affecting the speed?
Thanks guys

One of the guys at Motors and More told me to run the nut all the way in and back off 3 full turns.

Peak rpm was 3400 before and 4200 after.

I think I will try this but my ez go has 22 inch tall tires and it hauls and it at stock setting the governor still has the little tie through it.

Going to speed test it before I do this and then afterwards and see what my speed difference is.

Got to get the steering alignment right firstso it doesn't give me issues before speeding it up.

Will this effect the engine when your going down hills(say steep hills)at all??

I know an EZGO mechanic and he tells me 3500 rpm is max rpm. Anything over that you risk floating valves, and causing internal damage. Be careful how much you increase rpm to get that 2mph increase. Rebuilds aren't cheap. I know, I just did one. I didn't know it at the time, but the used cart I bought had the governor adjusted for higher rpm and I spun a connecting rod.

I was under the impression the shorter belt was for increased torque (climbing) and that with increased torque, you would lose some top end. You'll have to choose top end speed or climbing.

The circumference of 205/50/10 tires are almost identical to the original 8 inch tires. You need to install 205/65/10's to see any speed increase.
