Buggy will not engage with weight.
Hey guys,
I have an EZGO gas unit that I am having trouble getting to move. When it is empty (noone sitting on it) I can push the gas and make it move a little. The rear belt on it looks really loose but the guy I got it from said that was how it came. Anyway, I guess the question is am I looking at the wrong problem? The thick belt being so loose appears to be the issue but I don't see a way to tighten it. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Re: Buggy will not engage with weight.
The big drive belt should be somewhat loose.
What year is it? Are both the clutches turning when you are trying to go? |

Re: Buggy will not engage with weight.
I'm not sure what year it is, but the engine is an EH29C model if that helps. As far as the clutches (pulleys?) go, the front pulley that is connected to the starter belt is turning when engaged. The rear pulley will only spin when there is no load on the cart.

Re: Buggy will not engage with weight.
Does the engine actually operate to normal RPM's, or is the starter just spinning the engine?

It appears that the engine is going as it should. I apologize for my lack of knowledge on these things, but it appears that the engine is running. Any positive way to tell?

Re: Buggy will not engage with weight.
Kinda sounds as if your drive clutch (pulley on engine) is stuck open. Or maybe your belt is totally fried.
How wide does the belt measure? |

The belt measures 1 1/4" wide. I can't tell if the engine is running or if it is just the starter spinning.

May be a stripped brake hub?

Re: Buggy will not engage with weight.
Guys the more I look at this cart and listen to it, I don't think the engine is actually running. The original problem (from the last guy who owned it) was that the battery kept going down on him. I put a new battery in but if the engine is not running, can the cart just run on battery power alone?
