Default Upgrade clutch and belt for EZGO 2000 TXT

Lots of posts on this subject that I have been picking through, but I'm still confused.

Have read I should be upgrading to a 28 deg driven clutch for better pull up the hills, but read somewhere else that 28 degs is the stock clutch.

Also, please can someone give me a part no for the best belt for me.

Need more pull up the hills with stock engine.

Is this what I need? https://www.golfcartking.com/ezgo-ga...91-up-to-2009/

Many thanks.

I don't know about the clutch, but I did put this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/252230183154...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) belt on my 2001 1/2 EZGO 2 weeks ago. It made a world of difference in climbing hills. I would try it first, it might be all you need.

Hey many thanks and I will give that exact one a go. Would also like some clarity on the clutch if anyone knows the answer?

I have a 1995 TXT. Is that the same thing as yours? I tried butting the 6098 on it and just felt like I was being way to forceful and quit. What is the trick of you think it will work?

Hey Hoshbosh... I just ordered one so I'm also interested in how to do this if it is tricky.

After removing the old belt, I got the belt on the drive clutch (on the motor) then started it on the top of the rear pully as far as it would go. Then while holding the belt in place, roll the cart backwards. It should feed on to the pully the rest of the way. Careful it can be a finger pincher.

Many thanks jj - I got mine on in about 5-10 mins. I couldn't find neutral (just F and R) and so a bit of rocking and pushing was necessary.

Unfortunately hasn't made a lot of difference to the cart's performance uphill. Perhaps something is wrong with the engine or other internals. My only mod is 20 inch wheels.

Still hoping someone can explain in layman's terms what an upgraded clutch would achieve.

Try checking compression. It is a pretty good indicator of engine performance. Maybe someone will pipe in, but I think it should be close to 150 psi. If it is really low, try adjusting the valves. .004 cold. There are youtube videos to help with this.

Could be carb adjustment, not getting wide open throttle, clogged air filter, bad fuel pump, plugs. A lot of things could affect performance. All relatively simple to check.

I just had my 350 rebuilt and put on the shorter belt. As long as it can maintain traction it will climb anything. 6" lift with 22" tires.
