Ezgo 4stroke bad exhaust or carb causing blowby
Is it possible that the exhaust is blown out and no back pressure is causing large amounts of oil loss through the exhaust? Or that a stuck float or bad carb can flood the cylinder and cause large amounts of oil to blow out the exhaust?

My guess would be stuck float! Take the carb out and soak it over night and see if that fixes the issue..

Re: Ezgo 4stroke bad exhaust or carb causing blowby
I'm losing a quart of oil every 5-6 hrs. Compression is 152 and 155. Builder has no idea why it's losing oil. Possible for the carb or the exhaust to cause it?

You could have a bad valve guide, or a stuck pcv valve. Do your plugs look oil fouled? Carburator issues will not cause oil consumption

Did you ever do any of those tests in the other thread?
Still think its from your breather or that you have the incorrect oil level. 1.5 quarts |

Took the crankcase breather off and you can see a mist coming out but it doesn't accumulate on your fingers. Is it supposed to have decent pressure coming out of it? We plugged it and the engine ran the same. We took the fuel line from the block to the fuel pump off and again it seemed like it had decent pressure

Re: Ezgo 4stroke bad exhaust or carb causing blowby
Every time I drive it I am losing an ounce. If I drive it 10 times there will be no oil on dipstick. Should I still drain it and put 1.5 quarts in it?

Plugs have dark matter on them but they look fine otherwise

drain fill with 1.5 quarts. Mark that line on dipstick.
Unhook the breather and place it into a jug. Drive it. See if you are still loosing oil. See if it is burning it still or a large collection in the breather can. Be sure to plug the hole in the air cleaner for test. post a picture of your current breather. Make sure all the parts are there. |
