Default Flywheel Removal - Special Tool Required or Not

I have a 1985 EZ-GO TRX (Model A-1885) 2 stroke. I may need to be replacing my Pulser and according to the owners manual ~ this would require removal of the flywheel to gain access. It also states you need EZ-GO special tool 17086-G1 (flywheel puller). I see I can get one on e-bay for about $25. Is this tool required or can I get some coaching on an alternative method please. Thx...Paul

Something like one of these is all you need with 6mm bolts to thread in.

Yep agree with cart around. The steering wheel puller and m6-1.00 by 65mm or longer bolts does the trick....don't put it under a ton of pressure, give it a few taps with a hammer around the flywheels and she should pop Nicely....be careful as you can see it's kinda close to the case with a hammer. If I were going in there I'd do the crank seal....that's just me though

I use a piece of 1/2 x 1" bar stock with 2 holes drilled matching the flywheel, evenly snug 2 bolts in the flywheel and give it a light tap with a hammer and off it comes. Cheap and easy. Save it for future work.
