Default 1998 Shuttle Fuel Sending unit help

I have a 1998 MG5 Shuttle I am rebuilding and I am stuck on the fuel sending unit. What I have is the fuel gauge going right to full when I turn the key on.I have looked at the tank and the float is not stuck. I was wondering if it is wired right? I have it wired in this order. The yellow wire goes the the sending unit side of the gauge, the black to ground and the red on the gauge goes to ignition switch. The Ohm's test as follows 65 when empty and 68 when I raise the float to full which now puts the fuel gauge past full. any Ideas or a way to fix the unit?
