85 ezgo clutch removal bolt 3/4" ?
I'm working on rebuilding this engine , it's a 2pg . I've noticed the clutch thread doesn't seem to be standard as in the stickys above . I'm not sure if it's metric or sae . Anyone know what size bolt I should get to remove the clutch ?

Drive clutch or driven clutch? I'll assume you mean drive clutch....my replacement did have metric threads.....ill try to see what they were, I used an oil plug from a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle to press mine back together...

Yep , I meant drive clutch. I think I found a past post where you mentioned a 14 mm thread , and my clutch is also a comet brand . Im just not sure the length of the bolt I should get. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated . Thanks .

Re: 85 ezgo clutch removal bolt 3/4" ?
I would suggest taking the mounting bolt out, sending a feeler rod down the hole to see where it hits the shaft and going 1/2" longer then that. As you tighten the bolt against the shaft and tap gently on the starter belt pulley it should pop the clutch. If I were home I would get you more infor but I won't be there until tomorrow night...

Re: 85 ezgo clutch removal bolt 3/4" ?
Thanks for chiming in. I took the clutch securing bolt out and measured the thread distance across to try an figure what size bolt would be needed to remove the clutch . calipers are reading just shy of 3/4" . That would put it somewhere in the 30 mm metric range.
Has anyone reading this ever seen this size before or know what size metric bolt I should use ? |

3/4" is close to 19 mm. My 86, 89 and 98 takes a 3/4" fine thread bolt to push the clutch off.

Re: 85 ezgo clutch removal bolt 3/4" ?
Bolts come in 18mm or 20mm and 3 different thread pitch options.
If the id of the threads are just under 19mm you will need a 20mm bolt. Have you tried a 3/4" fine thread bolt? |

Re: 85 ezgo clutch removal bolt 3/4" ?
I have the same problem on my Marathon Engine clutch, it is a replacement from BU but it does not have the same threads for the puller as the original clutch because my removal tool that I purchased to remove the original clutch is too big, the replacement clutch has the plastic cover on it, any ideas as to what size it is?
