EZGO 1200 Workhorse will not run

I have a 1200 EZGO Workhorse that will not run.
I converted to the HEI from the old system but
I read that both cylinders fired at the same time. WRONG.
If they both fire at the same time it just pops and will not start.
I installed a HEI coil Has + and - and 1 spark plug prong. I made a spark
plug wire that went into a y for both plugs. It will not start.
If I remove the right plug it will start but not run well on just 1 cylinder.
Is there any way around buying the high $$$ Coil that has 2 plug wires
on it to get this to run?

Do these coils fire 1 at a time like the
one that is for this engine?
The Coil has to fire one side of the coil on the first pulse from the Pulser
then on the next pulse fire the other side. If they both fire at the
same time the cart just pops and will not run.
