running really good now but battery isn't charging. where do I get a voltage regulator at? voltage at battery is no diff when running, it doesn't have a starter generator on these so I am guessing its the regulator....correct?

Re: robin 1pg
It has an internal starter generator, but the problem is still most likely the voltage regulator.
Yours is the older four terminal regulator. They are impossible to find. You could try opening yours up, and cleaning the points in there, or searching several elusive threads to convert to the newer three terminal regulator. |

Re: robin 1pg
looks to be converted..3 terminals. is there a way to make sure the internal generator is working properly before I buy a regulator?

Re: robin 1pg
I can tell you this. On the external generators, there is a small green wire that goes from the generator to the center terminal on the regulator.
We raise the wheels off the ground. Check battery voltage while running. See if it climbs. 13-14 volts is good. If not, remove small green wire from regulator, and ground to engine. Run again. If the voltage climbs up to the 15-19 volts range, it is a bad regulator. If it still doesn't climb, it is probably the brushes in the generator. That's for an external generator. I'm not sure exactly how yours is wired. |

Re: robin 1pg
Is it the whole cart, or just the engine? What year engine? 81, and up is better.
You would need a drive clutch with a pulley for the starter. You don't have an ignitor, so you would have to do the HEI modification. One side of the engine mount is on the head. The 2-pg has 6 head bolts. Yours has only 4. I'm not sure if the engine mounts bolts would be in the same position, or not. FnR switch is the same. Solenoid is the same. |
