To buy or not to buy?!
Hey all! This my first real post besides the introduction so I would just like to say hello! Let me get straight to the point.
I am looking at a 1988 EZ GO Marathon. It has a great body and all parts are well kept except the tires and the engine is shot. I should also note that I can get it for $200. What is everyone's feelings on taking on this project? If you are wondering about experience, I completely flipped a go cart not too long ago. I painted it, installed all new parts, and installed a new engine. So is this a worthy endeavor or what? |

Re: To buy or not to buy?!
Sounds like a good project. I would pay 200 for a cart like that.

Sounds like you should go for it. I just finished a CC electric rebuild to sell and am looking for a gas cart project now. From the sound of this one I would buy it without even seeing it first. Post some pics if you make the deal. Good luck.

Nice! I think the engine may need to be replaced but it has an immaculate body, so I'm pretty excited!

Re: To buy or not to buy?!
And thanks to both of you. This cart is about 2 hours away so I can't see it besides pictures, but a U-haul trailer to pick it up is only $25. I feel like it is too big of a deal to pass up.

Offer the seller $175. to offset the trailer rent. If he gets mad he's far enough away that he can't catch you!!

Sound like a good deal and project. You could put a gas 11hp, or a big block , or who knows what deal on a motor you come across. Picks would be great if you get it.
