81 Ezgo Marathon differential oil weight?
Hi all,
I just bought an 81 EZGO marathon ( 2 stroke premix) It runs fairly well, it's very loud at speed... Mainly from vibration, not so much engine noise, anyway back to my post topic: I planned on changing the differential oil but I'm finding conflicting info on the proper weight oil. I found an 85 EZGO manual that calls for "Chevron RPM DELO Multi-service 200-30" but I can't find a cross reference. Is the proper oil 30wt (I assume straight 30wt, non detergent) or 90wt? or? The 30wt references I see online are usually electric carts with helical gears, my cart has a standard hypoid cut rearend. Seems like 90wt would be "safe" but would cause a lot of drag if 30wt is correct oil. Appreciate any help. |

Re: 81 Ezgo Marathon differential oil weight?
Welcome to BGW Flash !!! Pretty much your choice. Some uses 30 w and 85/90 gear oil. Really don't matter as were not DRAG RACING. Lets face it even 22 mph is quick on a cart but some would disagree so we won't go there. I use mine for work horses and to save the "ole man steps" and you are talking about a 1981 so I'd say be easy on the "ole girl" and enjoy carting. I started with 1 and now have 5 ask my wife !!!
