84 Marathon charging issue

I have an 84 Marathon gas cart, it starts and runs. Battery measures good voltage. When gas pedal is engaged voltage from battery goes blank on meter, and when running still does not show any voltage. I have verified all wiring on cart is correct. Genrator F1 to F2 get continuity, but also gets continuity from f1 and f2 to generator case. When I disconnect Df and ground from stud to ground, I still do not get voltage reading of any kind. Generator seems to be a newer unit. (Just bought cart) With all wiring connected I am getting continuity from ground to each of the voltage regulator connections as well. Nothing seems to be getting overly hot like a direct short. Starts and runs, so I am puzzled.
