I started to work on the 1997 TXT the gas tank has some sludge on the bottom of tank I want to get rid of , ANY IDEAS? I removed 99% of all the old gas.

I would try something like acetone or maybe carb cleaner in the tank.
A carb kit is available http://cartpartsplus.com/product_inf...7f7287a723649b |

I looked at PEP BOYS today for some liquid carb cleaner but, I couldn't find any? Thought about acetone but will it harm the plastic tank?
I saw the Carb kit is my engine a 295cc ? or greater? |

Funny you say that but I taped a rag to a stick thinking I would soften it up and rub the rag over it but, it's pretty thick!! I thought if I pour something in the tank to soften it up and add a little new gas it might get rid of it?

Try some paint thinner.

You should pull the tank out of the cart so its easy to work on. If its that bad its going to take awhile to get clean. I would try very hot soapy water or just keep running hot water in it, the hot water will make the plastic expand a different amount than the sludge maybe helping the sludge come free from the bottom. paint thinner may work great also, I guess it depends on whats stuck in the tank.
Oh and yes, your engine should be a 295 |
